Carla has a near death experience, but Ansgar rescues her. When she awakes in the next morning, Carla realizes that life can be really short and makes her peace with "Francesca" because she wants to stop the struggle for power. All the more she's surprised when she comes to know that Ansgar rescued her, so Carla wants to make her peace with him too.

Ansgar still stands there watching Carla from afar, contemplating whether to save her. He initially decides to just walk away but only for a split second before he grumbles under his breath as he drops his rifle and box of ammunition and runs toward the pond at top speed while calling after Carla.

When he reaches Carla’s side, he keeps calling Carla but she’s clearly unconscious. Ansgar picks her up and drags himself with Carla in his arms toward dry land. There, he tries to wake Carla up but she’s totally unresponsive now. Fear and panic now, Ansgar quickly proceeds to giving Carla CPR
(Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation).

As he’s busy with the CPR, Carla, while still unconscious, has an
”out-of-body“ or
“near-death” experience when she opens her eyes to find that she’s no longer outside the castle but indoors, all dressed in white. She stares around her looking confused. She begins to look around to try to gauge her surroundings. Then she slowly realizes that she’s back in the castle, in one of the living rooms.

As Carla turns toward the door of the room she’s standing in, she spots Stella standing by the door looking at her. She is carrying Sophia in her arms and both of them are also dressed in white. Carla immediately calls out to Stella but it doesn’t seem like Stella or Sophia hears her. Stella Then, she watches helplessly as Stella and Sophia seem to be vanishing from her sight. Just then, Carla returns to the present time as she wakes up, coughing out water. Ansgar heaves a big sigh of relief that his sister has finally returned to the living!

Back in the castle, the main entrance door opens suddenly with a bang startling Elisabeth and Maria who have been in conversation by the staircase. They immediately catch sight of Ansgar with Carla in his arms unconscious and wet as Ansgar yells for them to call the paramedics immediately. He quickly carries Carla into the living room, with Maria and Elisabeth behind him, both seriously concerned about what just happened.
Carla is all bundled up on the sofa, tossing and turning but still not responsive as the paramedic finishes with his treatment. Maria asks the paramedic if she’s going to be alright. The paramedic reassures everyone that Carla’s lucky ‘coz she only suffers a minor concussion. Other than that, she’ll come around soon. He then proceeds to give Carla an injection.

Back in Stella’s flat, Stella is very upset as she tells Luise that all Carla cares about is her constant fight with Ansgar about the Holding and doesn’t care about their relationship at all. Luise defends Carla’s actions as she explains that the reason why Carla is so engrossed with the Holding is out of her daughterly duty to her father whom she feels deeply responsible for ensuring his legacy. Stella begrudgingly agrees and understands but then she feels that it shouldn’t be at the expense of their relationship as she throws the sofa pillow away in annoyance and covers her face helplessly as she begins to cry.

Luise quickly goes over by Stella’s side and tries to comfort her. Luise reassures Stella that Carla loves her. It’s just all angry talk and Carla will come around and changes her mind. Stella looks up, still deeply distressed, as she concludes that Carla has indeed made her decision – in favor of the Holding and against her.
(Gosh, Stella clearly sounds defeated when she says that!)

After the paramedic leaves, both Elisabeth and Maria are still deeply concerned as they crouch beside Carla feeling very helpless indeed. Carla is still non-responsive. Her eyes flicker as she slips in and out of consciousness. But then the split second that she slips back into consciousness, she calls out to Stella repeatedly. Immediately Maria tells Elisabeth that Stella’s taken some days off but she’ll give her a call right away.

Back in Stella’s flat, Stella apologizes to Luise for crying so much. Luise quickly brushes Stella off reminding her just how much she herself had cried when she wasn’t together with Gregor. Stella smiles, a little relieved and feeling comforted that someone understands what she’s going through. Then her cell phone rings. She goes to pick up her cell phone but when she realizes from the phone display that the caller is someone from the castle, she hesitates. Luise asks if she’s going to pick up, Stella sighs and says she can’t.

In the evening, Carla is resting in her own bedroom, still out of it. She gets a visit from Ansgar, of all people! He stands by the door, looking at Carla who is tossing and turning but still unconscious. At that moment, there’s a flicker of sympathy in his eyes but then he’s interrupted by the maid who was going to leave a jug of water and glass by Carla’s bedside. Ansgar quickly motions her to give him the tray instead. He walks over by Carla’s side and leaves the tray on the bedside table. He lingers on and finally sits down beside Carla who’s still tossing and turning restlessly. He looks at Carla quietly, concern written all over his face and eyes. All of a sudden, it’s as if the hatred between them never happened and they both return to being just siblings. Ansgar then reaches into his pocket and pulls out his handkerchief. Just then, Maria tiptoes into the room but stops as she sees Ansgar, who’s totally oblivious to Maria’s presence, dabbing his handkerchief on Carla’s forehead to wipe off the sweat. Maria smiles to herself, feeling relieved that at last, Ansgar has retreated back to being a big brother to Carla as he takes care of her. She then leaves so Ansgar could spend some time with his sister alone.

Carla looks like she’s waking up so Ansgar immediately stops what he’s doing and backs away from Carla. As Ansgar closes the bedroom door behind him, Carla opens her eyes. She stares blankly for a moment before slipping back into unconsciousness.

Ansgar is taking a break with a drink in his quarters when he gets a visit from Maria, much to his chagrin.
(He must think that Maria is going to nag at him again about Carla!) But Maria’s visit is to apologize to Ansgar for making presumptuous accusation and blaming him for Carla’s accident. Ansgar facetiously questions her sudden change in her perception of him in terms of his relationship with Carla. Ignoring his sarcasm, Maria continues to explain that she knows that regardless, Ansgar still sees Carla as his sibling and blood is always thicker than water, no matter what. Ansgar seems uncomfortable that he’s shown his deep-down hidden caring side and frustratingly tells Maria to leave him alone. Before Maria leaves, she advises Ansgar not to deny that he’s actually a good person
(enjoy it, bro!) Ansgar just gives out a mumbling “Ehhh…whatever” response.
(Awwwww! Ansgar! You’re not a monster after all! You do care about your Carla, your family! Awwww….)

The next morning, Maria is sitting next to Carla by her bed. Just then, Carla wakes up and sees Maria but before she could say anything, Maria reassures her that everything is fine and goes on to say that she was unconscious yesterday. Carla asks what she’s doing by her bed. Maria tells her that she wants to make sure that she’s ok as she’s been worried sick. She then tells Carla that she’s had a nasty accident and nearly drowned. She then asks if Carla remembers anything. In that instant, Carla remembers the castle moat. Maria starts to cry when she tells Carla that she wishes she could turn back the clock and wipe out everything that has happened between them but assures Carla that she only meant well. Carla looks at Maria telling her that she knows. She then mentions that everything about the Holding, Shanghai, doesn’t mean anything to her anymore. Maria is delighted and relieved to hear that. Carla continues to express her regret that it had to take her fall into the moat to realize that. She then tells Maria that she doesn’t remember everything about her accident. All she remembers is falling into the water. After that, everything just blacked out. Maria then concludes that Carla doesn’t know who saved her then. Carla shakes her head.

Back in Stella’s flat, Stella is still moping by herself on the sofa, obviously not been sleeping, as her cell phone rings again. She looks at it but doesn’t pick up. As her phone continues to ring, Luise comes out of her room. When the ring stops, Luise looks at Stella and asks if the call was from Carla.

Stella pretends to be nonchalant when she tells Luise she has no idea who it was.
(Yeah, right!) Luise goes to Stella and giving her a friendly and sympathetic hug, she volunteers to make coffee for them. Then, her phone rings again! Stella looks at it and nearly picks it up but stops herself and leaves it ringing.

Over on the other line, it is indeed Carla. As she waits for Stella’s voicemail, she walks over to the edge of the castle moat and squats down, staring into the water. She then leaves a message asking Stella to call her back as she has something to tell her. She hangs up but still looking into the water, obviously lost in her own deep thoughts, so much so that she jumps in fright when she hears Ansgar from behind her asking her be careful in case she falls into the water again, only this time, he won’t jump in to save her anymore. Carla smiles at Ansgar’s friendly dig and then slowly thanks him for saving her life. She continues saying that she didn’t expect that out of him, which makes Ansgar give out his usual,
”Huh, figures!” facial expression. But he turns to Carla and says,
“You expect me to just leave you in there?” Carla replies that she wouldn’t be at all surprised if Ansgar had done that. She then admits that if it had been Ansgar in the water, she honestly wouldn’t know what she’d have done if she saw him drifting in the water. Ansgar is shocked and speechless when he hears Carla’s confession.

Carla continues to say that their constant fighting and bickering is just crazy. Ansgar argues that he’s not the only participant to the madness. Carla admits that she hasn’t fared any better, either. Then out of her frustration of all the crazy things that have happened between them, she asks Ansgar whether the Holding is worth all the aggro at all. When Ansgar doesn’t respond, Carla brings up the times where both of them used to be able to work together without trying to kill each other at the same time. She wonders why they couldn’t just go back to what it was before especially when at the end of the day, they’re both siblings, not arch enemies. Ansgar still doesn’t answer or respond. Carla then slowly expresses her wish to bury the hatchet and to make peace with her brother. She extends her hand and offers it to Ansgar as a sign of a truce between the 2 of them. Ansgar looks at Carla’s hand in surprise as Carla waits for his hand in return. Ansgar hesitates and looks away as he ponders his decision…
(**Oh c’mon, Ansgar! You’ve already shown your angelic side, that you really do care about your family, deep down, no matter how hard you try to deny it! So, why not a truce?!**)
