Hmm, it looks kinda like a mixture between the French en garde and the English on guard. But I'm fairly sure en doesn't exist in English and guard not in French. But it's still pretty. I totally think of picking the Marlene one anyway

ETA: I googled en guard and the first hits were from questions and answer websites that explain that it's a misspelling of en garde so I'm fairly confident now that en garde is the right one http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_m ... f_en_guard

You are absolutely correct, Lola! "En Garde" is the appropriate spelling of the phrase used in fencing. If we are going to write it in English to refer to this situation, we would spell it the same even though it is derived from French..
